Literacy Research Proposal
This research proposal outlines a qualitative study to examine the potential impact of scientific illustrations on college students learning a new conceptual subject. I begin by establishing the importance of visual learning within the scientific field, and then examine discussions surrounding the efficacy, reception, and possible misinterpretation scientific visuals might have on a non-academic audience. Scientific pedagogy and visual rhetorical scholarship are incorporated to aid my discourse analysis and lend support to the proposed study. I then outline my methodology for conducting the research study and provide a sample consent form and schedule, as if the research study were to be completed.

Counter-Story Literary Analysis
This essay utilizes counter-storytelling, a tenant of Critical Race Theory, to conduct a literary analysis of Fledging by Octavia Butler and The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. I outline the construction and actions of both protagonists from the novels and examine how they combat the dominant cultural narrative regarding the portrayal of disabilities in science fiction. My analysis dissects the significance such characters have on disability studies and identity politics, both within and outside the realm of science fiction.

Discourse Analysis
This rhetorical discourse analysis focuses on three academic articles that discuss particular elements and impacts of Lady Gaga's musical and performative career specific to the notions of sex and gender. I summarized each of the arguments with the goal of examining the influence that Lady Gaga's persona has on socially-accepted conventions of sexuality and gender, feminine identity, and new-age feminist ideaology.
